Food Jonezi Friendz (“we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Washington, D.C. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information you give us

Program applications

When you apply to Culinary Choice or the Escoffier Culinary Program, we collect the information on the application: name, address, phone numbers, email address, date of birth, ward of residence, school, GPA, program interests, availability, and any resume or video you upload. The Culinary Choice application also asks whether you are a MedStar Family Choice DC member, your member number, and your health insurance plan.

We use this information to review applications, confirm eligibility, contact applicants and their parents or guardians, and run the program. Culinary Choice applications are shared with MedStar Family Choice DC, our program partner, to confirm eligibility.

Volunteer, partner, and contact forms

When you fill in our Get Involved or Contact forms, we collect your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, your organization if you are a partner, and your message. We use it to reply to you and to coordinate volunteering and partnerships.

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter or event updates, we collect your email address and use it to send you news, events, and program updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email or contacting us.

Applicants under 18

Our teen programs are for young people ages 14–17. We ask that a parent or legal guardian review the application and the Program Consent & Waiver with the applicant. A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to see, correct, or delete the information submitted for their child. This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Donations

Donations are processed by Give Lively, a third-party fundraising platform. When you donate, you leave this website and your payment details go directly to Give Lively and its payment processor; we do not receive or store your card number. Give Lively shares with us the information needed to thank you and issue a receipt, such as your name, email address, and gift amount. We do not sell, rent, or trade donor information.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view. We use an analytics service to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Analytics uses cookies, which are small files stored by your browser. You can accept or decline analytics cookies using the cookie notice on this site, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser settings.

Services we use

We rely on a small number of outside services to run this website. Each receives only the information needed to do its job:

• Website hosting, where form submissions and uploaded files are stored.
• Give Lively, for donations.
• Google reCAPTCHA, to protect our forms from spam.
• Google Fonts, to display the typefaces on this site.
• Our analytics and email newsletter providers.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the program partner named above for Culinary Choice, with the service providers that help us run this website and our programs, and when the law requires it.

Photos and video

Program participants are asked for permission to use their name, photos, and videos in the Program Consent & Waiver. If you would like a photo or video of you or your child removed from this website, contact us and we will take it down.

How long we keep information

We keep application, volunteer, and partner information for as long as it is needed to run our programs and meet our reporting obligations, and then delete it. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop emailing you, at any time. Contact us using the details below and we will respond as soon as we can.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
