Our story
We’re neighbors feeding possibility.
Food Jonezi Friendz is the nonprofit sister of Food Jonezi—created to make culturally relevant nutrition education and culinary opportunity accessible across Washington, D.C.
Why we’re here
Health starts with feeling at home.
We know that food is never just fuel. It is family, memory, identity, and connection. That is why every class, counseling session, and community event begins with respect for the people in the room.
Our work brings chefs, dietitians, educators, and neighbors together to turn practical knowledge into healthier routines that last.
What guides us
Built on care. Led by community.
01
Culture is a strength
We build from the foods, traditions, and lived wisdom already present in our communities.
02
Knowledge belongs to everyone
Nutrition education should feel useful, welcoming, and connected to everyday life.
03
Joy creates change
People learn and grow when they feel seen, supported, and excited to come back.
The Friendz difference
We don’t tell communities what to eat. We help people build on what they already love.
Our approach is practical, culturally responsive, and grounded in the realities of time, budget, access, and health.
